TOMORROW’S VOICES SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP LAUNCHED ~ JANUARY 2011
Tomorrow’s Voices developed and promoted a new service that would be launched in the New Year. The Saturday Social Skills group runs twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. Officially launched on January 8th 2011, the Social Skills Group provides centre-based instruction in social skills development and then an opportunity to practice those skills in the natural environment through community outings and community volunteerism. The group is open to youth with and without disabilities from ages 6-17.
TOMORROW’S VOICES LEADERSHIP TOUR IN WASHINGTON DC ~ JANUARY 2011
The Executive Director along with Board of Directors’ member Dr. Terrylynn Tyrell participated in a leadership study tour to Washington DC in order to facilitate collegial meetings with organisations and agencies at the forefront of autism, disability and policy efforts in the United States. The team met with executive level staff from Autism Speaks, The Bazelon Centre for Mental Health, and Youth Build Public charter School.
TOMORROW’S VOICES ATTENDS 2011 AUTISM CONFERENCE ~ JANUARY 2011
Members of Tomorrow’s Voices attended the Association for Behavior Analysis International Annual Autism Conference in Washington DC, “New Tools for Translating Science to Practice”. Staff made contacts with national ABA and autism leaders towards the development of better programming for youth with Autism in Bermuda.

Tomorrow’s Voices held its 5th workshop in the year-long training institute entitled "Learning Differences & Multi-Sensory Approaches to Learning". This workshop was conducted by our partner The Reading Clinic and hosted members of the community, ranging from the Ministry of Education staff, OT’s, SLP, PT’s, parents and other Allied Health providers.
TOMORROW’S VOICES PARENT SUPPORT GROUP & TRAINING ~ JANUARY 2011
Tomorrow’s Voices continues its monthly parent training and support group at the Centre. The forum gives parents an opportunity to discuss issues that may be coming up at home or school that they need some help with and also allows them the opportunity to listen to other parents that may be going through the same things as they are. Trainings are also given on specific techniques for managing their children’s behaviours.

TOMORROW'S VOICES TRAINING INSTITUTE 2010/11 ~ FEBRUARY 2011 Tomorrow’s Voices held its 6th workshop in the year-long training institute entitled "Youth with Hidden Disabilities and Their Involvement with Juvenile Justice System”.
ARGUS WALK THE WALK ~ FEBRUARY 2011 Tomorrow's Voices staff participated in the 5K charity walk to help raise money for Tomorrow’s Voices.
ARGUS HEALTH FAIR ~ FEBRUARY 2011 Tomorrow's Voices staff and Board members manned the TV booth at the Argus Health Fair which featured large Autism Awareness puzzle pieces as the back drop. The TV booth hosted a number of teaching materials and video footage of our staff in action. Hundreds of attendees stopped by the booth and saw first-hand the teaching techniques that are used to help our clients.
CENTRE ON PHILANTHROPY’S THIRD SECTOR CONFERENCE ~ FEBRUARY 2011 Chairwoman Erica Smith and Board Member Carmen Phillips attended the Changing Our World conference which gave an opportunity to stay up-to-date on best practice in the Third Sector.
BERMUDA CANCER AND HEALTH CENTRE DONATES VAN ~ FEBRUARY 2011 The staff and students of Tomorrow’s Voices-Bermuda Autism Early Intervention Centre were given a much needed boost our charity was the recipient of a second hand van, donated by the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. With assistance from the Centre on Philanthropy, Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre was put in touch with Tomorrow’s Voices who as a new charity were able to exhibit the need for a vehicle.
TOMORROW'S VOICES TRAINING INSTITUTE 2010/11 ~ MARCH 2011 Tomorrow’s Voices held its 7th and final workshop in our 2010/11 year-long training institute entitled “Natural Environment Teaching (NET)”. This workshop was led by Senior Therapist, Mrs. Mona Crabtree who provided hands-on strategies for teaching students in the Natural Environment. The Workshop saw attendees breakout into small groups where Tomorrow’s Voices Assistant VB Therapists provided each group with strategies and hands-on modeling of specific Natural Environment Teaching.
HAMILTON ROTARY PRESENTATION ~ MARCH 2011 As a launch to Autism Awareness Month, TV Director Dr. Kimberly Mills presented to the Hamilton Rotarians on March 29th at their weekly lunch meeting. The presentation gave a comprehensive overview of autism and Tomorrow’s Voices work in addressing the disorder. The presentation was aired on the radio and local news.
“DAY AFTER TOMORROW” ADVISORY BOARD ~ MARCH 2011 In order to gain feedback and perspectives from younger people, the Board of Directors assisted in the formation of an advisory body of young professional adults named “Day After Tomorrow (DAT)”. The DATS advisory committee provides an additional advisory/fundraising capacity and a younger perspective to the Board. These younger members are able to reach those whom our traditional Board can’t reach.
AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH PUZZLE PIECE WINDOW DISPLAYS ~ APRIL 2011 In preparation for and promotion of Autism Awareness month in April we partnered with store owners to display large Autism Awareness puzzle pieces in their shop front windows.
AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH ROYAL GAZETTE SUPPLEMENT ~ APRIL 2011 – Tomorrow's Voices had the opportunity to again highlight our services and successes with our 3rd Annual Royal Gazette Supplement. The 4 page spread featured interviews from TV parents, staff and also para-educators that work with our clients in a school setting. It was refreshing to read in the supplement how TV has helped one of our clients become closer at home with her family and the parents seeing a great change in the child since she has been at TV. The articles were very rewarding to the Board and staff as it was great reading how our services are making great impacts on families.
NEW ASSISTANT VB THERAPIST AT TOMORROW’S VOICES ~ APRIL 2011 Tomorrow's Voices welcomed new Assistant Therapist to the staff. Mr. Omar Dill was a recent university graduate who has benefited as a young Bermudian being exposed to this field as a career path.
AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH WORKSHOP ~ APRIL 2011 Ms. Marietta N. Janecky, BCaBA of The Carbone Clinic presented on “Applied Behavior Analysis in the Classroom”. This workshop saw over 40 teachers, health professional and parents in attendance, in an effort to gain a better understanding of how to use Applied Behavior Analysis in the classroom setting.
ONE THOUSAND VOICES FOR AUTISM FACEBOOK CAMPAIGN ~ APRIL 2011 Tomorrow’s Voices promoted a movement to raise awareness of Autism. Urging the community to join the Tomorrow’s Voices facebook page and in turn gain awareness of Autism in the community.
CARBONE CLINIC CONSULTATION ~ APRIL 2011 Tomorrow’s Voices’ overseas consultant from the Carbone Clinic, Ms. Marietta Janecky came to Tomorrow’s Voices to train new employees, conduct and audit, inspect TV books, data systems and programmes. We received an excellent review from the New York institution.

ELLIOT PRIMARY SUMMER CAMPS FORUM ~ APRIL 2011 Tomorrow's Voices staff manned a booth at this forum that provides information on the various summer camps available to parents and the public. We were able to give information about our yearly camp that provides special services to children with autism and developmental disabilities so that they can also participate in the camp experience and also provide some respite for parents.
AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH CLOSURE ~ APRIL 2011 Tomorrow’s Voices parents, staff, board members, volunteers and supporters met on East Broadway on April 30th to bring a close to Autism Awareness Month activities. Giant puzzle pieces and banners displayed "It may be the end of Autism Awareness Month, but it's not the end of AUTISM."

TOMORROW’S VOICES 2011 SUMMER CAMP ~ JULY/AUGUST 2011 Tomorrow’s Voices hosted its third annual Summer Camp Programme for young people with autism and developmental disabilities which saw nine children participate. The Summer Programme allows Tomorrow’s Voices the opportunity to serve clients who may be on our waiting list or unable to participate in our year-long programme.
SUMMER STUDENTS ~ JULY/AUGUST 2011 Tomorrow’s Voices had the opportunity to have 2 summer students participate in our program this summer. Both attend University and assisted with the daily Centre schedule, assisting the therapist with teaching clients and the summer programme. All the summer students were a great resource to the Centre and we intend to continue with hiring summer students each year.
NEW SENIOR VB THERAPIST AT TOMORROW’S VOICES ~ SEPTEMBER 2011 Tomorrow's Voices welcomed new Senior Therapist to the staff. Ms. Emma Martin has years of experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders, mental health challenges and severe learning difficulties. Her knowledge and experience will go a long way in growing TV.
TOMORROW'S VOICES TRAINING INSTITUTE 2011/12 ~ SEPTEMBER 2011 Tomorrow’s Voices launched its 2nd Annual year-long training institute under the leadership of centre Director Dr. Kimberly Mills. During September we held 2 workshops entitled “The First Days of School – Setting Your Classrooms Up For The Success of All Students” and “Data Collection Techniques”. These workshops which continue to be held monthly at the Bermuda College are a continued collaboration between the Bermuda College, The Reading Clinic and the Bermuda Educators Council (BEC). All attendees completing the courses will continue to gain BEC credits towards their yearly professional development certification.
TOMORROW’S VOICES STAFF CONTINUE TO LEARN ~ SEPTEMBER 2011 The staff of Tomorrow’s Voices engaged in professional development in order to continue to be up-to-date on the best practice in autism therapies.
CAPITAL G ANNUAL GIVING BACK RECEPTION ~ SEPTEMBER 2011 As one of the recipients of the Capital G Charitable Giving Back program, TV was invited to attend their Annual Giving Back reception. Stakeholders from various charities were present at the reception and it gave TV the opportunity to network with other charities and brainstorm on future collaborations.
TOMORROW'S VOICES “BOUNCE FOR AUTISM” COMMUNITY FUN DAY ~ SEPTEMBER 2011 Tomorrow’s Voices held its 1st Annual “Bounce for Autism” Community event at Southampton Rangers Club thanks to the generous donation by Funtyme Entertainment. The Acting Minister of Health gave the official welcome. Over 500 children and parents attended the event and learned about autism while helping us raise funds for our centre.

TOMORROW'S VOICES’ OPEN HOUSE ~ OCTOBER 2011 On October 21st we held an Open House at Tomorrow’s Voices celebrating the 4 year anniversary of our centre. It also gave the public a chance to learn more about our programmes and services. Visitors observed Therapists delivering Natural Environment and Intensive Teaching techniques within an Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior framework designed to help youth make meaningful progress towards educational, social and behavioral goals and objectives.

BERMUDA ASSOCIATION FOR BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS ~ NOVEMBER 2011 Tomorrow’s Voices applied to Applied Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) and were approved for the establishment of the Bermuda Association for Behavior Analysis (BABA). We are now officially part of the International ABA community allowing us to continue to do great things in relation to spreading the knowledge, practice and science within Bermuda and around the world.
